Simon Raven is an artist working in performance and film. He was the 2001 winner of the Mitzy Cunliffe Prize at the Ruskin School, Oxford and has an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art, London. He was artist in residence for 7months at CCA Kitakyushu, Japan in 2006 and is currently a member of disability led performance group 15mm Films (www.15mmfilms.com <http://www.15mmfilms.com> ) and the Backlit Gallery/Studio group in Nottingham.
A performance in which I will scratch out short fragments of text, lifted from Sir Thomas Brownes' book 'Urne Burial', using a rake with a piece of chalk attached. It is my intention that the performed activity resemble a painstaking 'Sisyphean' task, such as might be meted out as an act of community service, crossed with an unusual act of vandalism - leaving a slow trail of lunar graffiti in my wake.
